Actor Denies Anti-Vaccine Position After Narrating Contentious Covid Documentary
The "Taken" star has provided his narration to a feature-length documentary that questions the efficacy of immunizations and lauds ex- government figure Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Feature's Contentious Basis
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is inspired by a popular book published by a disgraced researcher, who became famous during the pandemic for claims that the virus was linked to a problematic version of the flu vaccine.
The book's writing partner, the executive producer, has previously authored books with far-right media personality the Infowars host. Heckenlively wrote online celebrating Neeson's role in the documentary.
A Strong Rebuttal
Representatives for Neeson have provided a response pushing back against suggestions that he supports anti-vax views.
"Everyone can recognize that unethical practices can exist within the drug industry, but that must not be equated to rejection of vaccines," the response explains. "He is not, and cannot be described as, anti-vax. His extensive work with the global charity reinforces his enduring support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."
It added that the actor had no hand in the project's messaging and that questions about its claims are best addressed to the creators.
Central Assertions Within the Documentary
In the film, the narration spoken by Neeson makes several strong statements:
- It claims that pro-immunization voices have demanded "unconditional submission" to health authorities.
- It argues that "science has become deeply politicised."
- Robert F Kennedy Jr is featured claiming, "The big problem with vaccines is that they simply are not safely tested."
- The narration takes aim at Covid lockdowns, arguing they caused mental anguish that resulted in thousands of lives.
- Concerning the immunizations, it mentions a view that they were "hurriedly approved" and seen as "risky trials."
Historical Controversy and Ongoing Debates
It further cites a 2004 BBC documentary about AIDS medication trials on children, which was afterwards the subject of a formal apology by the corporation for violations of guidelines.
In recent weeks, Kennedy directed the CDC to revise its official position that there is no link between immunizations and autism. This supposed link is also referenced in the film, even with a fresh analysis from the WHO reiterating no such link has been found.
A Past Position of Advocacy
Contrasting the film's narrative, Neeson has formerly voiced strong support for vaccines in his capacity as a charity ambassador.
Previously, he referred to vaccines as "an incredible achievement," noting that "The conversation about vaccines in recent years has overlooked how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest shared accomplishments in human history."
"Plague of Corruption" ends with Neeson's script stating, "This isn't the conclusion of our story. This is the start of a different phase."
