Football Analyst Chris Sutton Battles Artist Murs in Top Flight Forecasts

The Gunners' ten-match victorious run was ended by Sunderland before the international break, but will the English top division frontrunners bounce back against local foes Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked soccer expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still manage to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against artificial intelligence, readers and a variety of special visitors.

For week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

Murs' latest album, the new release, is out on the weekend.

Soccer and Family Life

Olly is a skilled soccer player as well as a accomplished singer and has been a featured player of several charity football games down the years - but he is not intending a serious return as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a benefit match the other evening for a mate of mine," he explained. "My team was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I still love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my daughter or boy decides to play instead."

The singer and his spouse his partner have a young family, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their manager.

"I won't force football on our kids but I've previously told my wife that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be coaching their Saturday football team," he said.

"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly was involved with a football club for a while too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a child, which is likely where I inherited it. He coached our side for two or three years and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Top Division Forecasts

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from injury but their offense is now more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

I still think this fixture will be quite tight, however. Burnley are disciplined and their sole home defeats so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

It smells of a one-all tie to me, but I am actually going to choose Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.

The expert's forecast: 1-2

The singer's pick: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have lost their previous couple games - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, West Ham won back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they appear competitive again.

The Hammers' sole on the road win this season came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when their manager Nuno was previously that team's coach.

So, what on earth do I predict here - can West Ham extending their run under Nuno, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I will go with Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Aston Villa was a blip.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

The guest's prediction: Bournemouth are performing strongly but West Ham have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the favourites for relegation before the season started, but they have surprised a several observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three in their past four matches.

My son told me to get Brentford striker Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will probably score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.

The Bees have not had great success on the road this season, and the Seagulls are always decent at their stadium. Brentford will try to attack on the counter-attack but I feel the home manager's team carry much more of a danger.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

Olly's prediction: It could be a match where you think there is going to be a many scores but it in reality proves to be quite tight. 1-1

The computer's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive fixture for Fulham, who have lost five of their last six games.

Fulham have got plenty of talent in their squad but it still feels like they could be sucked into a relegation fight.

As for Sunderland, indeed they are the surprise package of the top flight season so far.

The away side's performance in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was excellent. We have not seen any other team rough up the Gunners like that this season, and they were more than a match for them.

The logical choice would be to back the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting the hosts up too and, the last time they were in west London, they beat Chelsea at the close of October.

However I am not choose that. Instead, I truly need to carry on going against Sunderland with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of credit for their positive results because they evidently love to defy my predictions.

Considering the home side's at Craven Cottage form, the only team they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's team will be absolutely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to predict they will secure three points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

Olly's prediction: I know Sunderland are performing strongly and additionally that Fulham are on a poor run... but they have nonetheless been respectable at home this campaign. 2-0

AI's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a hard fixture to predict. The Reds have suffered seven of their past 10 games in every tournament, but might they be among the teams who benefit from the {international break|
