A funding package that would terminate the longest funding lapse in American history is advancing toward the House of Representatives for a critical decision on midweek.

On day 43 of the budget deadlock, lawmakers are reassembling in Washington to determine if they will approve a upper chamber proposal that would finance government departments for the next eight weeks.
