Iran Reports Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Widespread Counterattacks.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing offensive against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is uncertain and the American officials has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with notable success and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted wreckage fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
