Netflix Chooses Spot-On Performer for Mr. 2 in the Hit Series Upcoming Installment
Baroque Works is geared up to make a major impact in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, though the real showdown isn’t set to occur until the next season, and a adored, popular member has recently been selected.
The streaming service revealed this week that Cole Escola is now part of the One Piece season 3 cast and will portray Bon Clay. Bon Clay can use their power to change into an exact copy of any individual they’ve made contact with with their right hand. The actor, who is gender non-conforming and prefers they/them pronouns, will play a interpretation of that character reimagined as non-binary, rather than as a drag queen, in the real-life adaptation, as in the original manga and animated series.
Escola joins a number of fresh additions who will portray Baroque Works to reality, such as leader Sir Crocodile, portrayed by the seasoned performer, an emerging star as a key member, and a familiar face, who will appear as the lineup as King Nefertari Cobra of Alabasta.
Even though this character is a important part of Baroque Works, the persona won’t make their debut One Piece season 3. Given the next season set to cover the Little Garden arc, this signals a major departure in the schedule of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could signal more adjustments to the plot development.
Escola’s blend of excellent comedic sense and deep sensitivity makes them a perfect fit for the part. Along with their current animated role in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and numerous honors for creating and performing in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, showcasing the versatility they’ll add to one of One Piece’s widely praised figures.
Netflix's live-action One Piece show is due to premiere for its season two on March 10, 2026.
