Salah Extends Apology to Squad, Says Curtis Jones
Jones has revealed that Mohamed Salah expressed regret to the team after the fallout from his televised remarks.
The Incident
The striker was dropped from a key Champions League match following making accusations and stating his connection to the head coach had soured.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I apologise.’”
The manager has previously declined to reveal on whether he got an explanation from the 33-year-old forward.
Looking Ahead
The player stated that the squad's reaction stayed normal. “He was his usual self, he was smiling and it was business as usual,” the midfielder explained.
He also implied that a competitor wanting to play is preferable. “It's clear there are different methods you can express yourself,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just not start, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
Team Form
Their results have stayed unbeaten in the matches since the interview fallout. He feels the Salah's words were never meant to harm the team.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, it’s always been from a good place,” he finished. “That chapter is closed and we’re uniting strongly, playing well and on a positive run.”
