Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it's natural for concerns to be asked about his position following a further convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in 12 games, representing the club's poorest run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received significant support from management,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory naturally but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I am OK with my position. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal exchanges I sense the belief. But I've not talked to them after this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Problems and Player Reaction

The manager expressed regret over known shortcomings from his squad in their European defeat, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It's tough because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a period like this with performances this poor.”

Jones concluded, “But we still have the crest on our chest. And until that badge is removed, we’re always going to compete.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to its rightful place, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it must improve.”
