The Grisly Animated Film Conclusion That Lingers Audiences

Among all the mature animated films I’ve personally viewed, nothing has remained with me quite like the terror-laced ending of the explicitly bloody and deeply subversive film from 2022 Unicorn Wars.

In the year 2015, the Spain-based writer-director developed a dark, bleak , frequently brutal world that included several minor , forlorn glimmers of optimism.

While Unicorn Wars feels like it originated from a desire to expand the medium further, the director stated that it was rather an effort to communicate a universal, multicultural theme concerning “the shared root of all wars.”

That message is expressed by means of a squad of colorful pastel bears , openly inspired by a well-known series of cuddly characters.

Being raised in a community built around aggression and the military-industrial complex, many of the bears are obsessed with slaughtering unicorns, because of a holy book which states them they used to be masters of the woods, until these creatures forced them out.

Others haven’t fully bought into the indoctrination, , choose to try out drugs and fornicate outdoors.

Unlike their cuddly equivalents, these colorful critters show sexual organs and definite sex drives.

For a particular especially vicious, skeptical animal, the bear named Bluey, the battle against the unicorns transforms into a road to control — and particularly to dominance above his gentler, kinder brother the bear Tubby.

This bear is a bully , a seeming sociopath , and when horror overcomes his group and takes his fellow soldiers one by one, he seizes more and more influence on his own behalf, through ever more violent, destructive ways.

Simultaneously, these mythical beings are suffering their own nightmare, through an expanding, destructive monster in their forest.

“In the early stages, it appears as a comedy,” the director said. “But then it turns into a more serious and melancholic film. And by the end, it transforms into a terrifying movie.”

Unicorn Wars begins similar to among the quirky features by an iconic filmmaker, which find a wicked pleasure in allowing animated figures curse, fire weapons, or sex each other up.

Then it becomes more akin to a darker film from the same creator, featuring progressively graphic violence and a noticeable relation to the real tragedy of war.

In the finale, it is a full-on theatrical horror carnage.

The terror that turns this a perfect Halloween watch kicks in a lot earlier than that description suggests.

Unicorn Wars is one for the most dedicated fans of gore, for lovers of intense movies who want to watch a movie they haven’t ever watched previously, and are able to withstand a plot which delivers no restraint.

See it in a dimly lit space with no disturbances, and that ending will crawl deep within you and stay with you.
