The Porcine Pardon: Pig Named 6-7 Pardoned by Miami-Dade Mayor.

Although not quite at the identical stature as pardoning Thanksgiving turkeys, but the mayor of Miami-Dade conducted a Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She deserves this act of mercy. Her criminal record is spotless,” stated the mayor in a speech with inescapable allusions to the extraordinary and sizable number of executive clemencies issued since the beginning of a second term in office.

“If we disregard eating half a dozen apples per day,” the mayor added. “Let this swine have a prosperous future away from worry.”

This ceremony, which both honors and questions the region’s Hispanic tradition of eating roast pork during the holidays, was created to emulate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The pig received a pardon in a ritual at the restaurant.

The swine, contributed by a first responder, was named for the modern linguistic fad of young people shouting “six seven” – inspired by a musical verse – often without clear purpose. The phrase became so widespread that a major dictionary recently declared “6-7” its top term for the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

The pardoned swine is now destined to live out its days at a rural sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to kick off the holiday season,” said the event host, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It captures the spirit of Miami: joyful, diverse, and based in heritage that unite the community. Annually, we are honored to observe heritage and mercy in a way unique to Miami.”

Guests enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach croquetas and strong coffee as they marked Six Seven’s big moment.
