The Red Devils Poised to Secure German Forward Lea Schüller from the Bavarian Giants

The Women's Super League club are on the verge of sealing the deal for prolific German striker Lea Schüller in a permanent move from Bayern Munich.

A Marquee Signing for the WSL Side

Schüller, who has six months left on her contract, is known as a consistent goal-getter for both club and country. Having scored more than 100 goals for the German giants and scored 54 times in 82 caps for her country. This signing is viewed as a major signing for the Women’s Super League side.

Her exit from Munich has been anticipated since she appeared to be fighting back tears while applauding the club's supporters after a victory over Bayer Leverkusen this month.

Reports in December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was losing one of its top strikers. According to reports, all the paperwork for the transfer are now finalised.

Consistent Goalscoring to Boost United's Attack

The experienced striker's arrival is expected to provide a significant boost to the team's forward line. Schüller has been highly reliable in front of goal in Germany’s top flight.

  • Over seven consecutive seasons, including the last term, she reached at least a double-figures tally of league goals.
  • She won the Golden Boot in the 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.

Building Momentum at Old Trafford

The acquisition of the German international comes at a time when the club appear to be building positive momentum.

Their recent performances include qualifying for the Champions League knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a win in the League Cup quarter-finals.

In the transfer market, the mid-season window has brought further business:

  1. The signing of Sweden right-back Hanna Lundkvist on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
  2. The new deal for Japanese playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, who has become fan favourite since joining in 2023.

On the midfielder's extension, a club official stated: “She has become a vital component to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and technical ability enables her and the team to dominate play from central areas.”

Lundkvist, who has joined from a club in the American league, added: “You can sense how much the club have grown in the last few years, competing in one of the strongest leagues in the world and performing in the Champions League.”
